I'm making taco's for dinner and Korbin is just starving to death! I asked him to take the lettuce out of the fridge for me.
I heard him muttering "why do I always have to do the disgusting things"! The kid hates lettuce!
I reply, "it's just leaves there's nothing gross about it".
He then says to me, "I'll just hold it by the very corner, this is very disturbing to me!"
I then say "I'll give you $5 bucks if you'll taste the lettuce."
Korbins looks at me seriously interested and replies, "make it ten!"
Deals off!

Korbin Plans Ahead
Korbin: I'm going to have four kids. Two girls and two boys.
Me: Which do you want to have first?
Korbin: The girls because they're cuter!
Me: Why do you want us to have a girl?
Korbin: Because girls are sooooooo cute!
Korbin: Or probably I'll just have two kids. One boy and one girl.
Tayton: Why not four? Then you can have a bigger house.
Korbin: Just two.
Tayton: Or are four too expensive? What are you a cheap freak?

Don't Put Your Hand in Little Holes!
Last night Korbin came down stairs upset. He had gotten his hand stuck in a waffle block. The darn kid wouldn't let me take his picture. Why would a 6 year old stick his hand through a block that is too small? I thought we'd outgrown these types of situations. Seriously kid! If your hand doesn't fit going into a hole then it's probably not gonna come out so well either!!
And since the little punk wouldn't let me take his picture you can all laugh at this old video of the same sort of problem!
UPDATE: Korbin has agreed to a public service announcement/reinactment about yesterdays events for other children to keep them safe from the dangers of waffle blocks. (plus people didn't know what waffle blocks are)

Room For Rent
And then we did. And now I have this rock house front of my house that is the perfect home for a little toad or three! We had fun fitting the rocks together to cover the outside of the flower pot. Posted by My Two Army Brats at 9:23 PM 4 comments

Avoiding Alzheimer's
Kirke is home for lunch and we're watching TV. A commercial for an organized walk supporting something or other just came on and Kirke turned to me and said:
Kirke: There's an Alzheimer's walk coming up here I heard about it on the radio.
Me: Oh really? When is it?
Kirke: I don't remember.
I busted up laughing and he didn't realize why at first.
I'm pretty sure this is a cause we REALLY should support.....

He Said What?
I have a tendency to start saying some little phrase and then I wear it out. Apparently that has happened again. At the grocery store Tayton picked up a cornish hen and was cracking up laughing and said "Hey Mom, this is just enough meat to make ya mad!"
I say that when restaurants give my tiny cups of diet Pepsi or I get stuck with 12 ounce cans instead of bottles.
This weekend we went camping and canoeing (spell check says it's not a word but it is for me!) with friends. Korbin was riding in their canoe. They had my friend and her hubby, Korbin and their 3 year old daughter on board and they tipped over. They took a few minutes to regroup and continued down the river.
Later that day Korbin said to me "When that canoe tipped over I was going to jump right in and save Cassidy! But then I forgot!"
Hope he never forgets to save anyone else! Silly kid!
Here's a few pictures from our weekend!
This was our campsite. You can see our tent and our friends tent and the river right there! It was beautiful. We'll be on the same site next weekend and hopefully this girl's family and maybe this girl too, will join us!

Today They Were Wed
Today was the day! We allowed our 6 year old son to marry his soon to be 5 year old sweetheart! Korbin and Megan (kormen and magen) had their long awaited (3 days now) wedding.
Megan put on her beautiful wedding dress and veil and placed her tiara upon her head.
Korbin had his mohog spiked up high with blue hair gel. His Army Combat Uniform (ACU's) was worn with pride.
The bridesmaids were beautiful and the groomsmen were acting silly. The officiant held her imaginary book as they waited for the bride to make her way to the gazebo.
Here's the video to prove we really did all of this. Who else do you know who can throw a wedding for less than 40bucks that includes engraved tokens of their love?
Here they are exchanging forced loving glances after the ceremony.
Megan is a kissing girl and Korbin is okay with that on occassion on the cheek.
You didn't really think we'd have a wedding without a wedding cake did you? Our personal cake decorator designed this just for the mini bride and groom!
Who doesn't love the blue mohogs and pink feather boa tiara's?
Or maybe the 7 year olds? They get along so well most of the time. But, well their 7, so having fake weddings is probably too immature for them!
We had a great time. We laughed. The kids will remember our craziness forever and that was the reason behind this whole wedding day. I hope that my kids will be able to look back and remember that we were willing to do something crazy just to make them smile.

Mow The Lawn
I was hanging out over on Betty Confidential reading this article. The article is based around this European commercial:
Apparently some women find it offensive. I on the other hand find it freakin hilarious and it makes me want to run out and buy this new razor/trimmer. My favorite part is when it says "all that's left to see is tulips on the mound" lmao! Too freakin funny!
Maybe I have issues......

The Arrows Tell You Which Way!
My friend is moving and I'm afraid it's too far away from my house. So at 8pm tonight we loaded up my van with my family and her and her three monsters kids to measure the distance and time of the trip.
Right off the bat her almost 5 year old started crying and whining that she was thirsty, then she was hungry and on and on. So we did what any good parents would do and turned up the radio. That's when it happened. The stupid song that I hate with a passion came on. The so-called friend that was riding with me just loves that song so she cracked up and turned the radio up and started singing along. So I did what any person who is driving HER OWN car and a song she hates comes on would do. I pulled over got out, stood behind the van with my hands over my ears.
Did I forget to mention our other two friends were in the van behind us? Right, so they were a tad confused. The jackass friend in the car was so sweet that she rolled down the windows and locked the doors and blasted the radio. The other van full behind us was not impressed. I went to get back in after this friend turned off the song but the door was locked. So I again did what a normal person would do and grabbed the roof rack and slid in through the window.
We continued on our adventure and passed the road we were looking for and took the next. We drove and drove and drove to see this house, in the dark, on a dark country road, that people still live in. Finally, 10.5 miles and 18 minutes into our trip (including my fit throwing time) and we found the house. Or wait, maybe it's that one? Or is it that one? What the heck they all look the same? Hmmm......
We drove down to the turn around thingy. I rolled down the window to tell the driver of the van behind us which house she thought it was. And then I smelled something. What the hell is that smell? It smelled like finger nail polish remover. OH well, we rolled up the window and drove on. That was when I got the text that the smell was a can of orange spray paint I had apparently run over! Super, just freakin super!
We found our way out of the little "neighborhood" back to the main road. I said to my navigator "which way do I turn?" She pointed left so I turned on my left turn signal indicator. Then the peanut gallery in the back seat pipes in "Michelle, the arrows tell you which way to go, why don't you just look at your little thing up there?"
I was confused. Maggie was turned off and there were no arrows on the road. Then she said "the little green blinking one". As if I'm completely stupid and had no idea the blinking arrow told ME which way to go instead of me flipping the switch in the direction I intend to go.
Thank God she won't be driving, or navigating anytime soon!

Why Won't They Sleep?
Instead of flowers or cards we sent this picture to our good friend who's battling cancer right now. He came through the surgery well and they're waiting on the pathology reports. Keep praying!
Ok so enough serious stuff lets get on with the title of this post!
THEY WON'T SLEEP!!! Seriously it's really starting to bug me! How am I supposed to play Rock Band and Mario Kart sip tea and read a good book to relax if they won't go to sleep?

She Felt Sorry For Him
My little Korbin wanted his mohawk (mohog he calls it) back. He has been a good boy so I decided he deserved it. For anyone who is new to reading my blog Korbin had a mohog since last memorial day. In December he was having some real behavioral issues. I hid the clippers behind my back, called him over to me and then I grabbed him and shaved off his mohog! I told him that if he was going to ACT like a punk then he wasn't allowed to look like one. So he had to earn it back.
He's thrilled!
He also just celebrated his 6th birthday! We had a nice little party here at home and then we went to chucky cheese with 19 of our closest friends!
The sweet little boy and his best girl hung out playing DS after the party!
So this old lady with a strong German accent came over to me and Korbin and he was holding a shoe box with his new sandals inside. She said "did you get the shoes or the haircut first"? I kept my mouth shut since the shoes weren't purchased yet. Then she leans over and whispers to me "Oh I see he gets to get a new bike to make up for the haircut!"
I almost lost it laughing it was so funny. Like I gave him a horrible haircut and was trying to make it up to him by buying him new bike!

The Teacher Called in Sick
Last week the teacher called in sick. She said she had strep throat and thought she was gonna die. She didn't die. She's here.
How come no one sent a sub? Don't ya think that if a homeschooling mommy is sick they should send in a sub? That sub has to perform all of the duties of the regular teacher. These include but are not limited to keeping the boys up their school work according to the lesson plan. The lesson plan we try to follow but end up veering from daily! That's totally allowed by the way but only for the regular teacher! The sub must also perform the daily home school maintenance and cleaning. Meals must also be prepared for the students.
For some strange reason the doctor wouldn't write me a prescription for a sub or an excuse note from work! Nuts! Call it a snow day cause we took 3! All better now.....for now. Strep throat sucks just so you know.

The Bitterness of Defeat
I have lost the power struggle.
They have learned to defeat me and use it to their fullest abilities!!
I put them to bed at nine. They stay in bed until I'm fully engrossed in a Wii game and then next thing I know they are circling me like vultures!! "I'm hungry, my leg hurts, my ear hurts, I'm bleeding, I'm hearing voices, I see dead people, my leg just fell off and got flushed down the toilet....."
I'm too into my game to turn it off right then. I tell them to wait a second. Seconds turn to minutes that are filled with "good job mom, get him, you're a good player, what's over there? How did you do that?" And on and on until I realized an hour has passed. They have won and now its time for us all to go to bed!
Must devise a plan! An earnings chart to trade chores and school work for Wii time! Also need to invest in some duct tape..... Brilliant!
True Story!
